- CCI was originally incorporated in 1979.
- CCI’s birthday is December 6!
- CCI’s original name was the Certification Board of Perioperative Nursing.
- The organization adopted the name Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) in 2004.
- The first certification program that CCI offered was CNOR®!
- AORN, our industry partner, provided the seed money for CCI to start as an independent certification board.
- Our very first president to serve on the Board of Directors in 1979 was Judy Pfister.
- At CCI, we have 24 dedicated staff working to promote continuous professional development, which drives safe, quality patient care!
- In 2018, CCI created a foundation to fund perioperative nursing research, the CCI Research Foundation.
- And this year, in 2024, we are excited to be celebrating our 45th Anniversary!
